Things to know before booking a wine-tasting tour in Margaret River
Before booking a wine tour in the Margaret River Wine Region, keep these things in mind:
Do you care about the wineries visited?
Some tours have itineraries where you’ll visit specific wineries, while others have partnerships with a dozen of them, so you might not know where are you going until the day of the tour.
Pick-up and drop-off
A big reason why people do wine-tasting tours is to not have to drive. You can drink without worrying about getting behind the wheel.
But make sure to double-check the zone where they offer pick-up and drop-off.
Some operators only service the Margaret River Township (Prevelly, Gnarabup, Cowaramup…), while others service all the way to Busselton.
If you’re staying outside of their radius, they may charge an extra fee or not provide the service.
Are kids allowed?
If you’re bringing your kids along, check the policies of the tour. Some don’t allow children, while others even offer special meals for them. Some tours are stroller-accessible but others aren’t – check that in the tour booking details.
Policies and guarantees
Some providers only offer perks like “Reserve Now and Pay Later” and/or free cancellation only if you book with a third party like Viator.
This is something to definitely consider at the moment of booking – life is unpredictable and these experiences are expensive.
Having the safety net of a free-cancellation policy gives lots of peace of mind.
Thankfully, most of the tours we mentioned have “Reserve Now and Pay Later” PLUS free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour. Take advantage of that!
